Selling Checklist — Amateur Radio, CB and PMR Equipment

A simple checklist to prepare, publish and close a sale with confidence.

Before publishing your listing and completing a sale, go through this complete checklist. It will help you sell faster, avoid disputes and reassure your buyers. ⚠️ HamRadioMarket is a platform connecting sellers and buyers. We do not intervene in transactions and are not party to any contracts concluded between users. The sale, payment and delivery are the sole responsibility of the seller and buyer. This checklist is provided to help you transact safely.

✅ Before publishing the listing

  • Test the equipment: power on, receive, transmit, all functions
  • Check cosmetic condition: scratches, dents, missing or faulty buttons
  • Clean the equipment: casing, connectors, screen, keypad
  • Gather all accessories: microphone, cables, power supply, manual, box
  • Check legal compliance: is the equipment approved for use in Europe?
  • Research the market price: eham.net, QRZ.com, similar listings on HamRadioMarket
  • Take clear photos from multiple angles, including any defects
  • Write a complete and honest description (brand, model, condition, accessories, terms)

✅ During the sale

  • Reply quickly to messages from potential buyers
  • Offer a demonstration if the buyer is nearby
  • Never accept a cheque: prefer bank transfer or PayPal
  • For PayPal: 'Goods and Services' payment is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Be wary of buyers who offer more than the asking price (common scam)
  • Be cautious with buyers who refuse to communicate by phone or video call
  • For in-person handover: choose a public place or bring someone with you
  • Test the equipment in the buyer's presence before handover

✅ For postal shipping

  • Pack the equipment carefully: foam, bubble wrap, double packaging if necessary
  • Use a tracked and insured service (Royal Mail, DHL, DPD...)
  • Insure the parcel for its actual value
  • Photograph the packaged parcel before shipping (proof in case of dispute)
  • Send the tracking number to the buyer as soon as shipped
  • Keep the shipping receipt until delivery is confirmed
  • For international: check customs restrictions in the destination country

✅ After the sale

  • Confirm receipt with the buyer
  • Mark the listing as sold on HamRadioMarket
  • Keep message exchanges for at least 30 days
  • In case of dispute: contact the payment service used (PayPal, bank)
  • Leave positive feedback if the transaction went well

⚠️ Warning signs — Common scams

  • Buyer offers more than the asking price without negotiating
  • Request for payment by cheque, money order, or Western Union transfer
  • Buyer sends their own courier to collect the parcel
  • Messages with unusual phrasing or poor language
  • Buyer refuses to test the equipment in person
  • Pressure to close the deal quickly without verification
